Expertise in launching and growing new consumer businesses and leading brand transformations at iconic institutions with strong customer satisfaction and leading highly motivated and accountable teams, in the US and overseas.
Boockvar is currently President of Five Iron Golf, the world’s premier indoor golf and entertainment experience with over 30 stores in the US and around the world, both company owned and franchise. From 2019-2024, Boockvar was President at Thrasio, a global digital consumer goods company for the next century. Thrasio is one of fastest growing e-commerce businesses in the world with a total amount of capital raised of over $3.4 billion. In 2022, Thrasio will exceed $1.5 billion in sales, and deliver a Thrasio product to nearly one out of every four American households. Thrasio acquires successful Amazon third party businesses and direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce brands and seamlessly integrates them into its digital consumer goods platform, which manages nearly 20,000 products. Leveraging this platform, Thrasio has grown businesses rapidly, achieving double digit annualized growth rate of EBITDA while propelling high quality (but lesser known) products ahead of legacy products with familiar brand names. Thrasio’s Series D equity round was raised at a $6 billion pre-money valuation led by SilverLake, one year after Advent’s investment in July 2020 at $1 B which made Thrasio the fastest profitable US company ever to reach unicorn status. 2022 CNBC Top 50 Disruptor; 2021 Glassdoor: Top 10 Best tech companies to work for.
Previously, Boockvar was the President of NFL Experience, charged with launching the first fully-immersive experiential attraction for a major sports league, which opened in Times Square in November 2017. NFLX is powered by industry-leading brands and global entertainment firms including the NFL, Cirque du Soleil, MGM, and AEG.
Before NFLX, Boockvar was the CEO of New York Cruise Lines, Inc., operator of the world-famous sightseeing company Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises which welcomes over 1 million visitors every year. Boockvar previously served as Chief Operating Officer & Chief Customer Officer of the Girl Scouts of the USA, where he helped transform the brand, including by digitizing the $800 million cookie business for the first time.
Prior to that, Boockvar spent 12 years as a Senior Vice President at Weight Watchers International which saw pronounced growth during his tenure, having been purchased by private equity and taken public on the NYSE. During his last five years at Weight Watchers, he ran U.S. Operations and was responsible for the roll-out of new national service offerings and the launch of new businesses in China, Canada, and Mexico.
Prior to Weight Watchers, Boockvar ran sales and business development for two e-commerce startups and was a senior associate at Simpson Thacher, a leading global M&A law firm based in Manhattan.
Boockvar, a Class of 2010 David Rockefeller Fellow (sponsored by the Partnership for New York City), is on the boards of NYC & Company and U.S. Travel Association, as well as various non-profit boards, including the Success Academy Charter Schools (where he is a board member and Vice-Chairman of Harlem Success Academy) and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has a law and undergraduate degree, both with honors, from University of Pennsylvania.
